Adequate housing is a fundamental human need crucial for survival in cases of natural hazards or conflict. It not only provides security, personal safety, and protection from the weather but also prevents ill health and disease. homelessness is a growing problem in Pakistan, with an estimated 20 million homeless people living in the country. In particular, the area of Tulamba, in southern Punjab, is one of the most backward areas and is facing a severe housing crisis. The majority of the population in this area earns a living through labor and is extremely poor, unable to afford adequate housing. Most houses in the area are made of mud and unable to withstand the effects of the weather. Furthermore, many houses are overcrowded, with only one room for multiple people to live in.
In response to this dire situation, the Molana Tariq Jamil Foundation has started a Maskan program in the area to provide long-term housing solutions for the homeless. The program focuses on building new rooms for those in need and providing support for building roofs and boundary walls for those whose houses are not weatherproof. The foundation also works to raise awareness about homelessness and the importance of providing shelter to those in need through community outreach and education campaigns. The goal of the Maskan program is to ensure that no one in this area is left to sleep under the open sky and that every family has a safe roof overhead. In conclusion, the Molana Tariq Jamil Foundation’s Maskan Program is a noble initiative aimed at addressing the housing crisis in the most backward areas of Pakistan, particularly in Tulamba. The program focuses on providing long-term housing solutions for the homeless, including building new rooms and supporting the construction of roofs and boundary walls.

Alhamdulillah, so far, the Molana Tariq Jamil Foundation has built houses for more than 50 people under the Maskan Program. This effort is a step towards ensuring that everyone in Pakistan has access to adequate housing and a dignified life. The foundation continues to work towards its goal of providing shelter for all those in need, and it’s a noble effort to help the people of Tulamba.
