MTJ Foundation Advances Community Health Through Diabetes Awareness Session
Date: May 9, 2025Location: Tulamba, Punjab, Pakistan The Molana Tariq Jamil (MTJ) Foundation’s Health Department recently conducted a Diabetes Awareness and Lifestyle Management Session for 30 registered beneficiaries, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote preventive healthcare and reduce the burden of non-communicable diseases among vulnerable communities. The session was facilitated by Dr. Asif Imam, Senior Medical Officer at RHC Tulamba, and focused on equipping patients with practical, non-pharmacological tools to manage Type 2 Diabetes—emphasizing nutrition, physical activity, regular blood sugar monitoring, and lifestyle discipline. The event was attended by 30 diabetic patients (11 males, 19 females), all of whom are registered under MTJ Foundation’s healthcare support system. The Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Ihtsham Ullah Qureshi also participated as a special guest, demonstrating organizational commitment to community health initiatives. Key Achievements: Post-Session Support:To sustain the impact of the session, MTJ Foundation introduced a structured follow-up mechanism: This structured approach reflects MTJ Foundation’s model of combining education with ongoing support to reinforce behavioral change and ensure long-term health outcomes. Challenges and Recommendations:While the session yielded strong results, challenges included resistance to dietary change, early follow-up call timings, and lack of personal glucometers among participants. Based on this, the MTJ Foundation recommends Looking Ahead: MTJ Foundation is committed to scaling such interventions as part of its broader health strategy. Future plans include conducting monthly diabetes awareness sessions, expanding training for health workers, and integrating non-communicable disease (NCD) education across all MTJ Foundation’s supported communities. “The session exemplifies how low-cost, community-based interventions can empower individuals to take control of their health. By focusing on education and consistent follow-up, we are seeing measurable improvements in patient outcomes,” said a representative of MTJ Foundation’s Health Department.
