Have some questions you’d like answered?
- Every Muslim with food in excess of their needs on Eid.
- Obligatory for oneself and dependents, including children.
- Fitrana is based on the value of staple foods like wheat, barley, or dates.
- Example: In Pakistan, it’s approximately the cost of 2.5 kg of wheat per person.
- If wheat costs PKR 250 per kg, Fitrana would be PKR 625 per person.
- It purifies your fasting from any minor shortcomings.
- It ensures that the less fortunate can also enjoy the blessings of Eid.
Fitrana (Zakat ul Fitr) is an obligatory charity for any Muslim who possesses excess food beyond personal requirements. Unlike regular Zakat, Fitrana is mandatory for every member of the household. Therefore, the household head, parents, or guardians can fulfill this obligation on behalf of the entire family.
Fitrana (Zakat ul Fitr) should be paid during the month of Ramadan, with the latest deadline being before the Eid prayer commences. This ensures that those in need can benefit in time for Eid.
