MTJ Foundation Advances Community Health Through Diabetes Awareness Session

Date: May 9, 2025Location: Tulamba, Punjab, Pakistan The Molana Tariq Jamil (MTJ) Foundation’s Health Department recently conducted a Diabetes Awareness and Lifestyle Management Session for 30 registered beneficiaries, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote preventive healthcare and reduce the burden of non-communicable diseases among vulnerable communities. The session was facilitated by Dr. Asif Imam, Senior Medical Officer at RHC Tulamba, and focused on equipping patients with practical, non-pharmacological tools to manage Type 2 Diabetes—emphasizing nutrition, physical activity, regular blood sugar monitoring, and lifestyle discipline. The event was attended by 30 diabetic patients (11 males, 19 females), all of whom are registered under MTJ Foundation’s healthcare support system. The Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Ihtsham Ullah Qureshi also participated as a special guest, demonstrating organizational commitment to community health initiatives. Key Achievements: Post-Session Support:To sustain the impact of the session, MTJ Foundation introduced a structured follow-up mechanism: This structured approach reflects MTJ Foundation’s model of combining education with ongoing support to reinforce behavioral change and ensure long-term health outcomes. Challenges and Recommendations:While the session yielded strong results, challenges included resistance to dietary change, early follow-up call timings, and lack of personal glucometers among participants. Based on this, the MTJ Foundation recommends Looking Ahead: MTJ Foundation is committed to scaling such interventions as part of its broader health strategy. Future plans include conducting monthly diabetes awareness sessions, expanding training for health workers, and integrating non-communicable disease (NCD) education across all MTJ Foundation’s supported communities. “The session exemplifies how low-cost, community-based interventions can empower individuals to take control of their health. By focusing on education and consistent follow-up, we are seeing measurable improvements in patient outcomes,” said a representative of MTJ Foundation’s Health Department. Understanding Qurbani: Its Meaning, Rules, andSignificance in Islam

Every year, as the sacred days of Dhul Hijjah draw near, Muslims around the world prepare to honor the powerful legacy of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) through the act of Qurbani. This annual sacrifice is not merely a tradition; it is a deeply spiritual and symbolic practice that strengthens our faith, revives our sense of empathy, and uplifts entire communities. At MTJ Foundation, we believe in making this act of worship meaningful by ensuring it reaches those who need it the most.In this detailed guide, we’ll explore the meaning of Qurbani, its significance, the rules that govern it, who must perform it, and how your donation can make a lasting impact — both spiritually and socially. What is Qurbani? Qurbani, meaning “sacrifice” in Arabic, refers to the ritual slaughter of an animal during the days of Eid-ul-Adha. This act commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice his beloved son, Ismail (AS), as a demonstration of unwavering submission to Allah (SWT). Just as he was about to follow through, Allah replaced Ismail with a lamb, signifying that the sacrifice was accepted. This act of sacrifice has remained a powerful expression of obedience and spiritual devotion for generations. It reflects the values of faith, sacrifice, and commitment to divine command. For Muslims today, Qurbani is an opportunity to revive this legacy and fulfill a significant Sunnah. The meat from the sacrificed animal is then distributed among the poor, ensuring that everyone can partake in the joy of Eid. For many families living in poverty, this is the only time of year they have access to meat, making the gesture not just symbolic but deeply impactful. The Meaning Behind the Word Qurbani In Arabic, “Qurbani” is derived from the word “Qurban,” which means a way or means of gaining closeness to Allah. It highlights the core purpose of this act — to get closer to our Creator through the sacrifice of something valuable. Prophet Ibrahim’s readiness to give up his son symbolizes the ultimate submission to God’s will, a lesson in selflessness that transcends generations. This meaning transforms the act of Qurbani from a simple animal slaughter into a sacred expression of devotion, bringing immense spiritual rewards to those who perform it with sincerity and care. Why Do Muslims Perform Qurbani? Qurbani is more than just the slaughter of an animal — it is a means of drawing nearer to Allah (SWT), showing gratitude for one’s blessings, and supporting the less fortunate.According to the Hanafi school of thought, Qurbani is obligatory (wajib) for every Muslim who meets specific financial and personal criteria. For followers of other schools of thought, while not obligatory, it is considered highly recommended (Sunnah Mu’akkadah).Performing Qurbani allows Muslims to:Reaffirm their submission to the will of Allah (SWT)Follow in the footsteps of Prophet Ibrahim (AS)Share the blessings of Eid with those who are strugglingReflect on personal sacrifice and spiritual disciplineFulfill a charitable obligation that uplifts communitiesQurbani is also an act that fosters empathy and awareness. When we sacrifice an animal for those who have little, we develop a deeper appreciation for our blessings. We recognize the struggle of those who live in poverty and hunger daily. This empathy strengthens the ummah and brings us closer together in the true spirit of Eid. The Story Behind Qurbani The story of Qurbani traces back to Prophet Ibrahim (AS) who, in a divine dream, saw himself sacrificing his son, Ismail (AS). Understanding this dream as a command from Allah, he prepared to fulfill it despite the emotional difficulty. When he shared the dream with his son, Ismail (AS) responded with unwavering faith and agreed to be sacrificed. As Ibrahim (AS) was about to carry out the command, Allah (SWT) intervened, replacing Ismail with a lamb. This event became an eternal symbol of submission, sacrifice, and faith — values that continue to inspire Muslims to this day.It reminds us that true faith requires trust in Allah’s wisdom, even when the path is difficult. This level of submission and reliance — or tawakkul — is something every Muslim should strive for. How to perform Qurbani The Nisab is currently measured as either 87.48 grams of gold or 612.36 grams of silver. For instance, as of May 2025, the value of silver was approximately $640.40, while gold was over $9,000. Anyone whose savings or assets exceed this amount is required to give Qurbani. It’s important to note that if multiple members of a family meet this criterion, each must perform their own Qurbani. So in a household, both husband and wife may be required to offer a separate Qurbani. Types of Animals Eligible for Qurbani The animals eligible for Qurbani include: Animals must be healthy and free of disease or defects. Some disqualifying conditions include: These health and age requirements ensure that the animals selected are suitable and respected as per Islamic principles. How is Qurbani Performed? The Qurbani must be performed according to strict Islamic guidelines: The entire process should be handled with the utmost compassion and care. It reflects the mercy that Islam advocates not just toward humans, but toward all living beings. The goal is to complete the ritual respectfully, keeping the sanctity of the act at its core. When Should Qurbani Be Performed? Qurbani should be carried out between the 10th and 12th days of Dhul Hijjah. Donations to us can be made up until the end of the (9th Dhul Hijjah). However, early donations are highly recommended to ensure timely sacrifice. How is Qurbani Meat Distributed?Traditionally, the meat from Qurbani is divided into three parts: At MTJ Foundation, we ensure that all Qurbani meat is distributed to the most vulnerable families in disaster-affected and underserved communities across Pakistan. For many of these families, this is their only access to meat in the entire year. Our distribution process uses a fair and transparent scoring system that prioritizes: What If You Missed Qurbani in the Past? If Qurbani was obligatory for you in past years and you missed it, you can still fulfill this obligation by donating

How Sadaqah Jariyah Creates Eternal Blessings for Generations

There are some acts of kindness so powerful that they don’t just help in the moment—they continue to bring blessings for generations to come. Sadaqah Jariyah is one of those rare, beautiful gifts that keeps giving, not just in this world but in the hereafter. What is Sadaqah Jariyah? Sadaqah Jariyah, or ongoing charity, is a form of giving that continues to benefit people long after the giver has passed. Unlike one-time charity (Sadaqah), which provides immediate relief, Sadaqah Jariyah ensures continuous reward for as long as people benefit from it. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:“When a person dies, all their deeds end except three: a continuing charity, knowledge that benefits others, or a righteous child who prays for them.” (Muslim 1631) This means that your generosity can become your legacy, bringing endless rewards even after you leave this world.

The Power of Clean Water: Transforming Lives One Drop at a Time

Water is life. It nourishes, cleanses, and sustains us. Yet, for millions across the world, access to clean drinking water is still a distant dream. Imagine a mother walking miles under the scorching sun, carrying a heavy container just to fetch water that may not even be safe to drink. Imagine a child, too weak to attend school, suffering from preventable waterborne diseases. This is not just a scenario—it is the reality of many communities in Pakistan and beyond. At MTJ Foundation, we believe that access to clean water is not a privilege; it is a fundamental right. It is not just about quenching thirst—it is about dignity, health, and the chance for a better future. Our mission is to ensure that every drop of water brings hope, healing, and transformation. A Crisis That Can’t Be Ignored In Pakistan, more than 80% of the population lacks access to clean drinking water. This crisis disproportionately affects children, leading to waterborne diseases such as cholera, diarrhea, and typhoid. According to UNICEF, these diseases contribute to over 50,000 child deaths every year in the country. The impact is heartbreaking—lives are lost, dreams are shattered, and communities are left in perpetual struggle. MTJ Foundation’s Commitment to Change At MTJ Foundation, we are not just witnessing this crisis—we are actively working to change the narrative. Through our Clean Water Initiative, we are reaching out to the most vulnerable communities, providing them with sustainable solutions for safe and accessible water. Our projects focus on: Water as a Lifeline in Gaza Beyond Pakistan, we are also extending our help to those suffering in conflict zones. Our foundation has been sending essential aid to Gaza, where families are displaced and struggling for survival. With limited access to safe drinking water, the crisis in Gaza is worsening every day. Through our relief efforts, we are providing formula milk powder and other necessities, ensuring that displaced families, especially children and mothers, receive the care they need. For us, clean water is not just about health—it is about giving people a fighting chance. It is about allowing children to go to school without suffering from illness. It is about empowering women, who no longer have to spend hours fetching water. It is about restoring hope in places where despair looms large. (Add video here): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ynrQwYPesKJZY9hCBQS0e5hWR6aQJb2Q/view?usp=sharing Impacting Lives Through Clean Water Access With the installation of our hand pumps and water filtration plants, we have impacted the lives of more than 300,000 people, bringing hope and ease to communities that once struggled for something as basic as water. Families no longer have to walk miles for water, a struggle we heard from countless beneficiaries. Mothers shared how they would set out before sunrise, walking for hours with heavy pots, only to return home exhausted, leaving little time for their children or household needs. Children, instead of attending school, would accompany their parents on these long, tiring journeys. But now, with access to clean water just steps away, their lives have taken a new turn. Children can finally focus on their education without the burden of water collection. Mothers have more time to care for their families and pursue small income-generating activities. We have seen entire communities thrive, with gardens growing fresh vegetables and livestock staying healthy. The risk of waterborne diseases, which once caused untold suffering, has significantly decreased. Villagers no longer live in fear of contaminated water harming their loved ones. Now, they celebrate healthier, brighter days. The ripple effect of clean water is profound—it’s not just about survival but about living with dignity and hope. How You Can Make a Difference The fight for clean water is far from over. Every day, millions of people still live without access to safe drinking water, but together, we can change that. With your support, we can bring more clean water, more smiles, and more hope to communities in need. Whether through donations, spreading awareness, or participating in our projects, your contribution has the power to transform lives.  Here’s how you can help: 💧 Donate:Your contribution can directly fund life-saving projects such as installing hand pumps and water filtration systems in the most water-deprived areas. Why Education is the Key to Breaking the Cycle of Poverty

A Child’s Dream Beyond the Classroom In a small village, a little girl named Amina watches other children walk to school, her heart full of longing. Poverty has kept her from classrooms and books, tying her future to the same struggles her family has faced for generations. Yet, within her, a dream persists—because education is more than learning; it is a lifeline to opportunity. Amina represents millions of children whose dreams are paused, waiting for someone to press play. The Harsh Reality: When Poverty Steals Potential Amina’s story echoes across Pakistan, where over 22.8 million children are out of school, the second-highest number globally. Poverty, cultural barriers, and a lack of schools rob children of their right to education. Without learning, they grow into adults without choices—locked into low-paying jobs and hardship, continuing the cycle of poverty. The cost of missed education is generational, as children without schooling are more likely to raise families trapped in poverty. The Islamic Perspective: Education as a Duty and a Legacy of Hope Amina’s story is one of longing and resilience—a child whose dreams are put on hold by the chains of poverty. But in the teachings of Islam, we are reminded that knowledge is the greatest key to breaking those chains. The first word revealed in the Quran was “Iqra” (Read), a divine command highlighting the importance of learning. Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said, “Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim” (Sunan Ibn Majah). Education is more than books and lessons—it is a means to empower the soul, uplift communities, and create change that lasts beyond a lifetime. A Continuous Charity That Never Ends In Islam, the power of knowledge extends beyond the individual. It becomes an act of Sadaqah Jariyah (continuous charity)—one that multiplies in reward long after we are gone. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said, “When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah, knowledge from which benefit is gained, or a righteous child who prays for him” (Sahih Muslim). Supporting a child’s education is not just a donation—it is a seed that grows into a legacy, bearing fruit for generations. The Ripple Effect of Your Support Imagine the impact when a child like Amina is given the chance to learn. With knowledge, she becomes a teacher, a healer, or a leader—someone who shapes the future of her community. When a woman gains an education, she passes that knowledge to her children, breaking the cycle of poverty for generations to come. Your support has the power to transform lives, not just for today, but forever. Together, we can ensure that children like Amina don’t just dream—they achieve. With every classroom built, every book provided, and every teacher supported, we move closer to a world where education becomes a beacon of hope and a lasting charity that benefits all of humanity. How Education Breaks the Cycle But what if Amina could go to school? Education is the most powerful tool to break generational poverty. Here’s how: 💙 Breaking Barriers to Employment: Educated individuals earn 10 times more, creating financial stability and uplifting their families. 💙 Healthier Families: Literate parents make informed decisions, reducing child mortality and improving family well-being. 💙 Empowering Women: Girls who complete school marry later, earn more, and uplift their entire communities. MTJ Foundation: Turning Dreams into Reality MTJ Foundation believes in education as a path out of poverty. That’s why we invest in initiatives that rewrite stories like Amina’s: 📚 3,000+ Scholarships: Giving students the opportunity to complete their education. 🏫 Al-Hasnain School: Providing quality education at affordable rates to reduce barriers to learning. 💼 Vocational Training for Women: Empowering women with skills for financial independence. How You Can Be Part of the Change Every child deserves the chance to dream, to learn, and to build a brighter future. But for millions like Amina, those dreams remain out of reach. With your support, we can change that. Together, we can turn dreams into reality and break the cycle of poverty through the power of education. Here’s how you can make a difference: 💙 Sponsor a Child: Cover tuition, books, and uniforms to keep a child in school. A small act today can change their entire future. 💙 Support School Development: Help build classrooms and expand learning spaces, ensuring that every child has a seat to learn and grow. 💙 Fund Vocational Programs: Empower women with skills that enable them to support their families and uplift entire communities. Your contribution is more than charity—it’s an investment in the future. When you educate one child, you empower an entire generation. When you support one woman, you strengthen an entire community. Together, let’s build a world where every child, like Amina, can not only dream—but thrive.
